The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspected armed robber following an attack on a female resident in Imiringi Community, Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.
According to a press statement issued by the Command, the suspect, identified as Perepiyagha Pere, a native of Angiama Community in Southern Ijaw LGA, was arrested on 4 May 2026 at about 4:00pm by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, acting on credible intelligence and a distress call.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who is reportedly a staff of Adonai Security Services, allegedly attacked the victim (name withheld) in her home with a knife, inflicting serious injuries on her hands.
Police said the suspect thereafter forced the victim to transfer ₦62,000 into his bank account. He was also alleged to have stolen $300 (Three Hundred United States Dollars) and other cash amounts yet to be determined.
The suspect is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yenagoa, where further investigations are ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah Daniel Edebor, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining security across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
