Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has etched his name into the record books following a historic performance for Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
During Wednesday night's knockout phase play-off first leg against Club Brugge, the 28-year-old forward scored his first European goal for the Spanish side. According to official statistics, Lookman is the first player to score on his Champions League debut for Atletico Madrid since 2019.
The match, which ended in a 3-3 draw, also featured fellow Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika, who was on target for the Belgian hosts. Lookman’s strike marks his third goal in all competitions since his high-profile €40 million move from Atalanta in January.
