“You Buy Hair for ₦500,000 and Give God ₦1,000” — Pastor David Ibiyeomie Sparks Reactions After Preaching on ‘Correct Tithe’ and Offerings

 

The founder and presiding pastor of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has stirred major reactions online following a sermon clip that recently went viral on X (formerly Twitter).

In the trending video, the cleric strongly emphasized the importance of paying what he described as “correct tithe,” warning that failure to do so could result in financial struggles. According to him, believers must be consistent and deliberate in their giving if they desire financial breakthrough.

“You have to pay correct tithe if you don’t want your life to be tight,” he said. “After you tithe, give quality offerings. There are different types of offering.”

Pastor Ibiyeomie also disclosed that his personal offerings are substantial, claiming that what he gives to God weekly is more than what he spends on himself.

“Listen, what I give before God on a Sunday I don’t use for myself in a week,” he stated. “I can give to people but not to myself. My offering on Sunday is bigger than what I use.”

He further revealed that the minimum amount he gives on Sundays is $12,000, while on weekdays he gives at least $2,000. He added that even when he is out of town or not physically present in church, his offerings are still submitted.

“Even when I am not in church, even when I travel, my offering will be there,” he said. “I know how to move the hand of God. I am not depending on your offering.”

The pastor insisted that his wealth is not dependent on members’ donations, adding that even if people refuse to support him financially, he would still remain extremely rich because of what he described as his covenant with God.

He also warned against stinginess, stating that it is one of the major reasons many people remain poor. Comparing church giving to personal spending, he encouraged believers to prioritize giving to God over luxury and entertainment.

“You know why you are poor? You are not a giver,” he declared. “Stinginess is the gateway to poverty, and giving is the gateway to prosperity.”

Pastor Ibiyeomie concluded by urging worshippers to examine their spending habits, questioning why some people spend heavily on appearance and enjoyment yet give little in church.
